The narration style takes a little bit to get used to and things are very confusing at first. However, it becomes great quite quickly. There are a lot of short timeskips in the book which mean you only every read some of the most exciting bits of this story.

Interesting read
5 stars
This is very much out of the range of books I usually read, but I really enjoyed it. I might not be the best judge of the book's qualitative standing in its genre, though.

Ruined by technical inaccuracies
2 stars
The book generally is a fun fictionalization of von Neuman's life and work. However, many small inaccuracies in the explanations of the various technical topics central to the plot ruined the experience for me.

Excellent post-singularity SciFi
5 stars
Fascinating work of speculative SciFi. Also a lot of fun because it fundamentally embodies many of the outmoded ideas/ideologies of early-2000s open source enthusiasts. Absolutely worth reading.

Fascinating worldbuilding
4 stars
This book features a somewhat mysterious story in an intriguing combination of fantasy and post-singularity science fiction. Many concepts are only ever half explained, adding to the intrigue. The prose is quite beautiful, too!
